I think the judge in the case should have also made Troy Gentry take a mandatory hunting trip to the Kodiak Islands in Alaska and made him stay there for a week with only his bow and arrows, and no hunting guide with him and then see if his man enough to hunt bear!!! He's a poor excuse for a hunter!!!!

This type of 'hunting' is done by the biggest types of cowards. To kill an animal within a fenced area and call it a prize? That is the lowest type of action. This guy is nothing but a bully... hit the one that can't hit you back...

Unbelievable - no jail time. $15,000 is nothing to him. At least in jail, he might have been put in a situation where he might have felt 'hunted' in a cell by animals. Never will I listen to Montgomery Gentry again. If you have money, I guess you can buy yourself out of any situation. Absolutely disgusting.

Unfortunately, this type of hunting is legal, but what do you expect in a world where hunting has devolved into cowards who hunt from stands using feeders and cameras to track their game so all they have to do is show up on time and collect an easy kill. I am waiting to hear of fishing tournaments at aquariums, would be the same thing. I think those who can't hunt shouldn't. These people never learn to actualy track hunt in the wild, so when they try to step up to hunting predators, they cant stomach the possibility of hunting something that hunts back and have to hunt tame animals that wont attack or run away.

After reading about Troy Gentry I will burn my cd's by the group. Hunters are nothing but sick cowards who get there kicks by killing animals who can not shoot back. Send the cowards to Iraq and we will see how brave they are. I get my kicks when I read about hunters who shoot each other. How does it feel to be shot?

Drop it, already. Sure, Troy did this... but he took responsibility and apologized.

Troy Gentry (along with singing partner Eddie Montgomery) also went to Iraq and performed for the soldiers, visited the wounded soldiers, and gave some of them free CDs. The same Troy Gentry also donated thousands of dollars to charity recently, and donated a Chevy Silverado to a Nashville school which is now being used to transport musical instruments.

Think of it this way: would you care if some guy down the street killed a bear and falsely tagged it - basically did everything Troy did? I think not. So why do people make such a big deal out of this?

Because he's famous. Simple as that.

This is sick. What was the final result of court appearance for these two? Sentences?

I can't stand to hear about this kind of abuse of animals. Taking a tame animal and torturing it. I don't care that M/G has gone to Iraq; it doesn't change the facts! His money and performances in Iraq don't erase this act of hedonistic pleasure in torturing and killing a trapped animal.

Society is judged by the way its people treat the helpless and the less fortunate. This is barbaric. Go to hell.

I have yet to purchase any of this guy's cd's and now never will. Killing a caged animal for building a reputation as a macho guy is cowardly and dishonest. His encouragement for the maiming and killing of working class kids for in an unjust war does not exonerate his own behavior, rather it fits a pattern. And trust me, if he wasn't a famous, he would be let off the hook so easily.

Karen, sure that can't erase the fact that he killed a bear, but the fact that he killed a bear can't erase all the good things he's done, either.

Once again, would you give a crap if it was some random guy on the other side of America that did this instead of Troy? I doubt it. The only reason people are so critical towards Troy is because he's famous and you just want a reason to say you're better than him.

Troy Gentry should be the Poster Boy for Canned Hunts. I just sent my $50 contribution into the Humane Society telling them so.

I'm shocked and saddened that it is human nature to be so cruel.

I cannot forgive Troy Gentry for using a canned hunt and unethical hunting practices. I own guns, and support hunting - ethical hunting. This was far from ethical hunting, and he knew that as soon as he walked into an enclosure to kill an animal. His apology is hollow. He is blaming others for misleading him. He needs to take responsibility for his actions, and come out against canned hunting. Just because he can afford it does not make it right. I enjoyed their music, and believe they are a talented duo. As long as they - since they are a team - do not take a stand against canned and unethical hunting, they condone the practice. I cannot support them.
