Warner Bros. Records' Taking Back Sunday will release Louder Now: Partone, on December 12th marking the first time the band will release a DVD component of their music.
The band have also created a card to raise money for cancer charities with proceeds from card sales to be donated to the American Cancer Society, Give Kids The World Village and The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Louder Now: Partone contains ninety minutes of up close and personal stories from all five band members - singer Adam Lazzara, singer/guitarist Fred Mascherino, guitarist Eddie Reyes, drummer Mark O'Connell, and bassist Matt Rubano.
The DVD will also include exciting behind-the-scenes footage in the studio, on the tour bus, both backstage and on stage of the Long Beach Arena show, in band members' hotel rooms, and even home with some of the guys.
It also includes the music videos for "MakeDamnSure," (which was nominated for this year's MTV2 Viewer's Choice award) and "Liar (It Takes One To Know One)." There is also live no-holds barred, energetic clips of the band's performance from the Long Beach Arena show.
The cancer charities who will benefit from the holiday card sales were personally selected by drummer Mark O'Connell's mother Roberta - who is a cancer survivor, bassist Matthew Rubano's mother Hinda - also a cancer survivor, and guitarist Eddie Reyes' brother - whose daughter Elizabeth lost her battle with cancer at a very young age.
The concept for the holiday card was conceived by singer Adam Lazzara and features a cheery intergalactic collage of Santa Clause, a reindeer and a walrus wearing astronaut helmets, floating through outer space with wrapped gifts, a Chanukah menorah and Christmas tree.
The inside of the card includes a personalized holiday greeting from the band along with space where purchasers may write their own note to send from themselves and Taking Back Sunday to their loved ones and friends.
Bassist Matt Rubano explains on behalf of the band that "We are glad that during the holidays we can make a contribution by helping these charities and also showing our family members that have dealt with cancer how much we love and support them. It's a great feeling that people make these donations for our holiday cards and are willing to help."
The signed holiday cards come with envelopes in packs of either five for $15 or ten for $25. The cards may be purchased at both Taking Back Sunday's official website and on Merchdirect's site starting Thursday, November 16th. Only a very limited run of 3,000 cards will be printed. Last year's edition of cards sold out quickly - within just a few weeks. Taking Back Sunday has been tireless in their dedication to raise money and awareness to help others. The band has played benefit shows such as LIFEBeat's AIDS prevention group with MTV2, Boost Mobile's RockCorps greening initiative, and Hold On To Your Friends benefit for Sean McGrath.
The band has participated in building homes for Habitat For Humanity, donated a painted, autographed cast of a female torso that was auctioned off for to the Keep a Breast Foundation and donated a shirt design to Shirts For A Cure, which raises money for breast cancer treatment for low-income women. In addition, Taking Back Sunday's website features a call to action button that fans can click on to donate to the American Cancer Society.
