Cops sue rapper The Game for defamation

Rapper The Game might be learning a new game in court following a defamation lawsuit filed against him for more than $10,000 in damages. The suit was filed by five police officers involved in his arrest for resisting and disorderly conduct in a North Carolina shopping mall in 2005.

The lawsuit claims the officers were slandered by the 26-year-old performer in a television appearance where he compared his treatment in the arrest to the 1992 arrest of Rodney King.In the arrest, The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was said to have worn a Halloween mask, cursed loudly at the officers, and refused to obey a request to leave the mall. The officers were also forced to use pepper spray on the rapper’s entourage after they approached the police, according to police statements. The Game later said in a television interview that he was "arrested for signing autographs.” The lawsuit also questions a DVD which contains footage of the actual arrest, and was filmed by part of The Game’s group. The suit states a website that promotes the DVD claims the footage demonstrates the performer is "being wrongfully arrested and brutalized by the police."
