Rob Thomas and Patty Griffin to take the stage at the 2006 Music Has Power Awards

The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF), a member of the Beth Abraham Family of Health Services, is hosting the 2006 Music Has Power Awards that will feature performances from Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Rob Thomas and Grammy nominated folk singer Patty Griffin. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 6th at the Allen Room, Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The event is organized to celebrate and recognize the significant accomplishments of the men and women who have brought new understanding to the use of the power of music to awaken and heal. Special Honoree Dr. Oliver Sacks will be recognized for his contributions and support of music therapy in his 40 years at Beth Abraham. Actor Dustin Hoffman will be presenting Dr. Sacks with an award.Virtuoso violinist Timothy Fain, and fourteen year old violin prodigy and national concert artist Jourdan Urbach will also perform. Additional attendees include Lisa Edelstein, star of Fox’s Emmy-winning “House.” PBS anchor Rafael Pi Roman hosts.
