Snoop busted for pot and gun possession in an airport

By M&C News Oct 27, 2006, 11:26 GMT

On the heels of trouble for having a 21-inch collapsible baton in his bags at an airport, rapper Snoop Dogg is now facing even more legal trouble after he was arrested for suspicion pot and for gun possession at the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California. The arrest happened at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has already posted a $35,000 bail, and has a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 12th to answer to the charges.

The arrest happened when airport police officers stopped the rapper in the airport’s loading zone for a vehicle code violation. During a search, officers discovered marijuana and a gun inside the vehicle.

"There was no basis for this arrest," the rapper's attorney, Donald Etra, said in a statement. "We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed."

The arrest comes on the heels of Snoop facing other charges steming from an incident at the John Wayne International Airport. The Orange County district attorney's office is in the process of deciding to charge Snoop for the incident in September where airport officials discovered a 21-inch collapsible baton in the rapper’s bags as he was attempting to catch a plan to New York.

Snoop is no stranger to run ins with law and has a conviction for cocaine possession from 1990. He received three years probation in 1993 -for a gun possession charge during a traffic stop. In 1996, the rapper was acquitted of a murder charge.

Go figure. A blinging black man at an airport named after a whitey. Besides we all know how much of a terror threat rich black men are. (that's sarcasm)

Well I can explain the gun. He’s a famous person so having a gun around him is normal. Besides it’s probably registered. As for the weed maybe Stevie Wonder Stopped by lol. Whatever its just weed I doubt he’s selling it. 'Shit happens'. Next time act like you know Snoop & keep the weed at home. on a good note their is no such thing as bad publicity and this is just the kind of publicity a man like snoop dog needs to keep him hip. personally it sounds like it was staged to me, “Maybe not” but Are you shocked? I’m not.

What if that had been your car or my car? We would be rotting in jail and not able to get out. The fact that this guy is rich and famous is the only reason it matters. The article points out that time and again Snoop has been charged with crimes(and probably actually committed them). I don't hear anything about Snoop coming up for parole any time soon though. This is because he most likely will never serve any time since he can afford the best legal defense. Is he a monster? No. Is he a criminal? Most likely. You don't have repeated charges for similar crimes because you are a saint.
