NBC Universal and Target stores are partnering for the fourth consecutive year to bring fans the ‘Sounds of the Season’ CD collection - featuring superstar artists singing classic, holiday-themed tracks. Hitmakers like John Legend, Lionel Richie, Enya and Martina McBride contributed to the CD collection, which can be found exclusively at Target.
The collection is made up of five CD's including "The John Legend Collection," "The Lionel Richie Collection," "The Enya Collection," and "Classic Holiday Songbook," which features remixed instrumentals on timeless classics as well as new performances by contemporary artists like Martina McBride. In addition, "Navidad Con Telemundo" showcases the vocals of some of the network's beloved actors like Itatí Cantoral and Miguel Varoni singing such holiday favorites as "Feliz Navidad."
"We are excited to be teaming up with NBC Universal again this year to offer our guests a chance to celebrate the holiday season with some of their favorite artists," comments Sue Peterson, head of the Music Department, Target Stores. "I think this partnership is a win-win situation for the artists, our guests, NBC Universal and Target. The promotion raises awareness of the artists and their music while driving fans into the store."
John Legend stepped into the solo spotlight in 2004 as a premier singer-songwriter-pianist-performer with his debut album ‘Get Lifted.’ Driven in part by the hit singles "Ordinary People" and "Used To Love U," ‘Get Lifted’ was a critical and commercial triumph, earning John an astounding eight Grammy nominations.
One of the most eagerly-anticipated albums of the year, John's second collection, ‘Once Again,’ will be in stores Tuesday, October 24. For "The John Legend Collection," John sings holiday favorites like "Let it Snow" and "What A Wonderful World" with his distinct style. "The John Legend Collection" is distributed by G.O.O.D./Sony Urban/Columbia Records.
Lionel Richie's current release is ‘Coming Home’ - which yielded the #1 hit single "I Call It Love." Lionel Richie’s string of 15 consecutive top 10 R&B hits between 1981 and 1992 (five of which hit #1) – 13 of which were consecutive top 10 pop hits (also including five #1’s) – stands as one of the most enviable achievements in chart history.
An artist for the ages, Lionel Richie recorded eight tracks for "The Lionel Richie Collection" including "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World." "The Lionel Richie Collection" is distributed by Universal Music Group and Island Def Jam.
World-renowned female vocalist Enya will release the "The Enya Collection" featuring six holiday classics. One of the top-selling female vocalists of all time, Enya has sold more than 65 million albums to date. Her most recent release, ‘Amarantine,’ was recently certified platinum.
She has received countless awards during her musical career, including two Grammys, an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe nomination. Her ‘Sounds of the Season’ CD features Enya singing: Adeste, Fideles; The Magic of The Night; We Wish You A Merry Christmas; Amid The Falling Snow; and Oiche Chiuin (Silent Night).
"Classic Holiday Songbook" features digitally remastered versions of timeless classics like Al Green's "White Christmas," Bing Crosby's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole. The CD also includes a new duet with Dean Martin and country music superstar Martina McBride.
The new duet, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” was recorded at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, California, the same studio where Martin cut his original version of the song in 1959. “Baby, It’s Cold Outside" captures all of the warmth and romance of the holiday season, with McBride’s coy protests answering Martin’s smooth advances. The result is a magical collaboration in a pairing that is at once classic while also thoroughly modern. "Classic Holiday Songbook" is executive produced by NBC and distributed by EMI Music.
This holiday season Telemundo is proud to present a one-of-a kind production, “Navidad con Telemundo.” The CD features everyone’s favorite Latin Christmas songs performed by Telemundo stars, including classics like Los Peces en el Río (performed by Lorena Rojas, “El Cuerpo del Deseo”), Las Posadas (Sergio Catalán, “Tierra de Pasiones”), Felíz Navidad (Ana María Polo, “Caso Cerrado”), Cascabel (Gabriela Spanic, “Tierra de Pasiones”) and Noche de Paz (Itatí Cantoral, “La Viuda de Blanco”), among others.
