Shakira’s hips will soon be shaking to help raise money to build an art school in her hometown. The pop singer recently announced plans to donate proceeds from a concert to help build a school for 1,800 children that were forced to leave their homes due to the Colombia's civil war.
The concert is scheduled for Nov. 15th in the Caribbean port city of Barranquilla. It is part of the singer’s current ‘Oral Fixation’ world tour, and is described as a “festive homecoming” for the Grammy winning singer.
The school will be named Shakira's Pies Descalzos (Spanish for Bare Feet) and will feature an English and Spanish bilingual program with a strong emphasis on arts education, according to information provided by the foundation in a statement. It will be located in La Playa - a suburb of Barranquilla with a high population of children that do not attend school.
