Willie gets busted for 1 ½ pounds pot and mushrooms in Louisiana

Country icon Willie Nelson (and four others he was traveling with) was issued misdemeanor citations for the possession of illegal mushrooms and marijuana following a traffic stop on a Louisiana highway on Monday.

Nelson, who is known for his fondness for pot, was issued the citations following a commercial vehicle inspection of the singer’s tour bus, according to information in a state police press release. The release stated a state trooper was speaking with the driver and began to smell “the strong odor of marijuana." The bus was then searched and 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana and slightly more than three ounces of illegal mushrooms were discovered. Nelson and the others were able to avoid a felony charge of distribution since he and the other four passengers claimed the drugs and the drugs were not packaged for resale. Nelson and the others were released following the issue of the citations. Others cited include Tony Sizemore, 59, of St. Cloud, Fla.; Bobbie Nelson, 75, of Briarcliff, Texas; Gates Moore, 54, of Austin, Texas; and David Anderson, 50, of Dallas.
