A recent study done by psychologist Adrian North from the University of Leicester shows that fans of hip hop/dance music genres are more likely to have had more sexual partners in the last five years, and broken some kind of law. The study also revealed that fans of classical music are more likely to have tried cannabis, according to information released on Thursday.
North surveyed about 2,500 Britons to find out how their musical tastes related to their lifestyles and interests. His results showed that it was possible to find clues that reveal a subject’s likely personality traits simply from the kind of music they preferred.
The study showed that about 38 percent of Hip Hop fans and about 29 percent of dance music fans were more than likely to have had multiple sex partners in the past five years. The study showed the figures dropped to 1.5 percent for country music fans.
North’s survey also revealed that 50 percent of Hip Hop/Dance fans were more likely to have broken the law with several subjects admitting to have committed a criminal act.
The study also showed that a group of classical music fans surveyed had tried cannabis with 12 percent of the subjects who also liked opera admitting to experimentation with magic mushrooms. With his first results announced, North is now hoping to recruit 10,000 people for a wider study.
