Mariah Carey takes home the awards at Friday’s Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards

Pop diva Mariah Carey took home the awards at Friday’s Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta with five prizes including top R&B/hip-hop artist.
In addition to her ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ being named top R&B/hip-hop album, Carey also took the top female R&B/hip-hop artist, hot R&B/hip-hop songs artist, and top R&B/hip-hop albums artist. Her multi-platinum set ".
Rapper Kanye West saw claimed the awards for top rap album for ‘Late Registration’ and hot rap track for "Gold Digger." Singer/actor Jamie Foxx took the award for top male R&B/hip-hop artist prize. Young Jeezy claimed the top new R&B/hip-hop artist. Rap icons Public Enemy was given the 2006 Hip-Hop Founders Award in honor of the group’s influence on rap music.
Jermaine Dupri, who won top R&B/hip-hop songwriter and top R&B/hip-hop producer, was announced as the winner of the first Otis Redding Excellence Award – which was introduced this year in honor of the 40th anniversary of the 1967 plane crash that where Redding died. Dupri was given the award in recognition of his various achievements in the music industry.
