Jessica Simpson performs on the NBC “Today” show, but cracks after first song

Although she has been fighting a case of laryngitis the past week and had to deal with a burst blood vessel on her vocal cord, pop singer Jessica Simpson took the stage for her scheduled performance on NBC’s “Today” show. The singer made it through the first song before her voice cracked under the strain of the performance.
On the first song, Simpson’s voice sounded a bit scratchy compared to past performances, but the singer had noticeable difficulty with a high note on the second song – even though she did finish the tune.
Simpson’s voice troubles have forced the singer to cancel several appearances that were scheduled to help her promote her new album ‘A Public Affair,’ which is now out on store shelves.
