CMA Awards nominees announced and Dixie Chicks don’t make a single category

The 40th annual Country Music Association Award nominees have been announced, and the show has been set for Nov. 6th in Nashville. Although the controversial Dixie Chicks returned to store shelves with ‘Taking the Long Way’ (the one of the biggest selling country albums this year) the trio find themselves coming up short for any of the awards announced on Wednesday.

The Chicks, who have been facing poor ticket sales on their current tour, saw huge album sales when ‘Taking the Long Way’ was released, and its first single “"Not Ready to Make Nice" video saw heavy rotation on both country and rock video television channels. The album was number one on the Hot Country Albums chart, Top Digital Albums Charts, and the Billboard 200 overall chart, going Gold in its first week with 526,000 units sold.
