Country singer Mindy McCready changes guilty plea due to new evidence

Country singer Mindy McCready had her lawyers in court again on Tuesday to withdraw the singer’s former guilty plea in connection with probation violation charges due to new evidence provided by relatives in Florida.McCready (30) had pled guilty to probation violations on a drug charge when she was caught driving with a suspended license and leaving the state of Tennessee. However, her attorney Lee Dryer informed the court that relatives of the singer had discovered a document that showed the singer’s license was reinstated the day before she was stopped by the police and charged. The information was provided to Dryer on Monday.The new plea comes on the heels of McCready being acquitted of drunk driving charges in July – even though she was found guilty of the driving on a suspended license charge when stopped in May 2005.Dryer plans to file for a new trial in Davidson County, and Williamson County Judge Jeff Bivins has stated he wait to base his decision based on what Davidson County court rules. The singer still faces violations on leaving the state without permission, but her lawyer has argued McCready’s leaving was a misunderstanding.
