‘Ultimate Luther Vandross’ combines three labels worth of music from the R&B legend

By Patrick Luce Aug 21, 2006, 13:35 GMT

R&B singer and eight time Grammy Award winner Luther Vandross may have passed away at the age of 54 in 2005, but his musical influence will continue to live on with the new release of ‘The Ultimate Luther Vandross’ – a 25 track collection made up of former released singles and previously unreleased material.

The album is a collection of Vandross music that has been taken from the three major recording labels that released the singer’s albums throughout his career. It includes singles like “Shine” and “Got You Home” and was designed to show the range of Vandross’ entire singing career. Other tracks on the album include Vandross classics like “Here and Now” and “Dance with My Father.”

‘The Ultimate Luther Vandross’ also features some of the singer’s duets with other performers including Beyonce Knowles and Mariah Carey. Several of the tracks also feature “dance/radio” remixes.

Vandross won eight Grammy awards and sold more than 20 million albums during his recording career. A tribute album ‘So Amazing: An All-Star Tribute to Luther Vandross’ was released in September of 2005 and featured a collection of Vandross songs covered by a wide spectrum of music industry performers including Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Beyonce Knowles, Alicia Keys, Elton John, Celine Dion, and Wyclef Jean.

‘The Ultimate Luther Vandross’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information and a complete track listing.
