This is just appauling. I actually liked this group, however after this if Montgomery does not get another partner I will never listen to his music again. Gentry is nothing but a coward and it is to bad that an eye for an eye does not apply in this case because as far as I am concerned that bear has just as much right to life as Gentry does, in this case the bear has more right!
A message to Troy:
I do not like hunting of any kind; yes, I am one of those sappy animal/outdoor lovers :) Whatever happened, your reaction to this situation will pave the way to your future. Above all, be truthful and when it is all over, your fans expect a full explanation (and apology, if applicable) from you personally as to what happened and what you plan to do in the future to make sure that this (reality or misperception) does not happen again. Everyone has made errors in judgement or action at one time or another. Your true fans are forgiving and know you better than the general public who believes only what the media circus has to tell them. Whether you did this or didn't, the bear mount could't possibly bring you any enjoyment after this. You should really consider donating it to one of our country's great museums or similar educational institutions so that some benefit can be salvaged. Take a deep breath, this too will pass.

He said he thought everything was fine , but he still killed a tame bear in a pen , he knows he was tame and the a-hole knew the bear had a name , What a SOB . He might not have to pay a dime or get jail time , but never again will I hear his music . He is a real dirt bag .
I don't have any sympathy for anyone who takes (Kills )animals illegaly. I do feal sorry for the other half of Montgomery Gentry ( Eddie Montgomery ). I see Eddie quite often at our local hunting / fishing store . And I know him by reputation and that he is a real hunter and a sportsman and a man who is passionate about what he believes in. The owner of the store grew up with him and has told me of stories about them hunting together and it's nothing but good honest hunting stories. I hope people will not judge Eddie for the mistakes or screw-ups that his partner ( Troy-who lives in another state) has done. Eddie is a good man and I will stand by him...........Patrick Carney
Ya know. I might have fallen into the same media hype that the general public (You.)did without knowing all the facts. And I might have judged prematurely. Think .... What is the media's goal in life./ To get a story and twist it all to hell and tell half the story and play on peoples heart strings and to shock the public into buying more papers to make ......MONEY !! I know some game preserves that have THOUSANDS of acres, way more acreage than what is to be considered caged in, heck I,ve hunted on tiny farms. No. I'm not condoning his actions, He might have messed up, I don't know, but use wisdom before sentencing. What he did might actually be legal, so lets wait it out and see what the real truth is. Wow, I'm amazed at such intense vituperation and hatred coming at Mr. Gentry from so many posters. There are 2 versions of this story, of course. One by the accusers and one by the accused. It hasn't been settled yet and he certainly hasn't been convicted. Why are people threatening to 'make his life a living hell', hoping he gets shot with an arrow himself, commenting quite crudely about his genitals, calling him insulting names and spewing such hatred? Sheesh! Sounds like these posters are far more threatening and dangerous to society than Mr. Gentry.
Gentry says that '...before he killed the bear, he was told by the bear guide that it was proper and legal to kill the bear, which was not a tamed bear and was never in a pen or cage.'
Gentry's attorney, Meshbesher also claims the indictment misrepresents a video tape made of the kill. Prosecutors contend that the tape was edited to make it appear that the bear was shot in a traditional hunting environment. 'The only editing done was to remove the 'dead time' from the video tape (more than one hour long) reducing the tape to about 15 minutes,' Meshbesher said. 'The video was for Troy's personal use and was never intended to be and was not used commercially.
It's sad that everyone believes they have the right to play judge and jury, I can't believe that people pass judgement without ALL the facts. And when was the last time you saw a 'Tame Bear'? The last time I saw a 'Tame Tiger' it almost killed it's handler. Let the whole story come out, there is two sides to everything.

This is the most cowardly thing I have ever heard, I am outraged. What kind of person would do such a thing? If anyone tells me they listen two this duo, I am going to tell them this story. This is sickening. Where is PETA or the animal rights people? They need to protest at concerts
But anyway… to the point, I don’t think Troy has it in him to do something like that. And who said that he said, “I didn’t know”? Well whoever it was, he never said that. He said that he believed what he was doing was legal, said that his hunter’s guide even claimed that what he was doing was legal. And what he was doing was simply hunting in the wild, and shot the bear down with a bow and arrow. And if you’re about to say, “Oh, that’s so cruel, even if it is legal!” Well, ask yourself this first. Do you eat meat? Yes? Thought so. Then you’re eating an animal that was killed in the same way Troy killed the bear. And did I mention it was legal? Anyway, this is what I think: I believe we shouldn’t put Troy down until we have all the facts straight (wait, what facts? HELLO! NO ONE EVEN KNOWS IF ANY OF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT FOR SURE! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!!), and we know the truth for sure. (Sorry about that last sentence in the paranthesis, but I had to get that out… I’m just so damn sick of seeing this all over the internet.) Hell, even if Troy gets a fine or something for it, STILL, no one should believe anything until there is real, solid, without-a-doubt proof. From what I can tell from my own experiences and other people’s experiences, and his own words on his very site ('Stay true to yourself and hold your ground,' Gentry says simply. 'And dare to be different. Through it all, if you can lay your head on your pillow at night and be comfortable with what you're doing, you're doing alright.'), Troy Gentry is on the level, and being just who he should be. Sure, Troy Gentry is, well, a hunter (nothing wrong with that though, my dad hunts for God’s sake), a ladies’ man at times, and he drinks sometimes, but he is also a kind-hearted man, someone who treats his fans (etc.) with respect, someone who obeys the laws, and, most importantly, a Christian. Don’t deny that. Please. And please don’t flame me or insult me for this post; that’s just immature and pathetic. I’m not trying to be against anyone, here. I’m just trying to kindly let people know that we should wait until we know for sure what’s false and what’s fact before we destroy Troy’s reputation. I don’t think he shot the bear illegally; I STILL BELIEVE IN HIM. But that’s just my opinion. And I am not raving on about anyone else’s opinions by saying that. I don’t expect you to do that, either. Let’s all be realistic and mature about this… and wait and see how it turns out. Because unless I get real proof…. even if Troy ends up getting pressed with charges… I won’t believe a thing. I think this is a false accusation. So let’s give the guy a break. PLEASE. He’s been through a lot in his career already that he didn’t deserve…. I mean, he’s away from his family so much… and for crying out loud, he broke a damn leg and didn’t let that stop him from performing at the concerts (well, most of them at least. 3 were cancelled, but still…). And if none of what I just said convinced you to stop destroying Troy’s reputation… try listening to some of their songs… maybe, Tried and True, If You Ever Stop Loving Me, Something to be Proud Of, Some People Change… just any of their good, meaningful songs like that that’ll remind you who Troy really is. Oh, and Genienne, I LISTEN TO MONTGOMERY GENTRY AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. What are you going to do about it? I know the story. I don’t believe it. Simple is that. The so called facts DO seem wildly inaccurate to me, and there’s nowhere near enough evidence yet. I believe in Troy. Give ‘im a chance. He more than deserves it.
