What a sorry excuse for a man Troy Gentry is. How cowardly can you be to shoot a tame animal at close range who has just been released from his holding pen. Gentry must have genitals that look like two raisins and a cheeto - just pathetic.

He deserves to lose his career over this - I'm all for a boycott and have already emailed my intention to every country radio station in the Boston area - suggest you do the same if you feel as I do. He will go to Hell for doing this - G-d despises people who hurt animals for fun - but I am going to do my best to make his life on earth a living hell and would encourage other country music fans to do the same.

What a coward - I can't even think of a name bad enough to call him.

People should actually have pity on him. Men who engage in 'canned hunts' and whom drive 'jacked-up' trucks, often have inferiority complexes over the ' inferior size' of their male-organ. Men exhibiting the above-mentioned-behavior often do so to compensate for this.

Just thought I'd give a professional opinion.

Texas.

I hope that his ends the idiot's career and that he is given the harshest punishmen possible. I know of Troy from his days living here in Lexington, Kentucky. He's nothing but a drunken redneck, who now has more money than a druken ignorant redneck should have.

I, too, was around while Troy was playing the clubs in Lexington. I remember cleary that he loved his alcohol and he loved his women. I never thought those things were a crime? Regardless of Troy's attention to the ladies and the liquor, he was also one of the sweetest, kindest men I have ever known. His attitude has not changed through the whole 'fame and fortune' game. Troy is still the kind of man who will give you the shirt off his back. He is fair, level-headed and more than a little compassionate.

I fully believe Troy has been accused of something he did NOT do. I am appalled at how those in this comment section have thrown stones without knowing the facts in the case, without knowing anything more than the media spin, and most importantly, without knowing the character of the man.

Wow, What a man Troy Gentry is, can kill a bear in a pen, hope it made him feel real proud, and just think he gets to watch the video of the poor creature dying over and over again. I can't think of a punishment harsh enough for that poor excuse of a soooo called environmentalist!!!! Please don't put him in the same ranks as the Dixie Chicks , all they did was speak their mind.. not harm a poor tame bear and film it to boot. Note to Johnny Dorris.... I am going to do everythng in my power to made my friends, and workmates know what kind of people your company supports and what kind of a coward Troy Gentry really is!!!!!!

What an imbecile. Takes a real tough guy to shoot a bear in a cage with a bow and arrow. Nevermind that it was a tame bear like the kind that ride bicycles at the circus. Is making them ride bikes cruel? Maybe, but I'll bet the thing would have preferred the bike to the bow.

I'll NEVER listen to another Montgomery Gentry song, nor buy a CD. I've destroyed my nephew's CD. Burn in hell, Troy, you cruel, cruel bas-tard.

Troy,

Nice excuse: 'I didn't know'. Yeah, right. Didn't know you were in a pen shooting the thing. I don't care if the pen was 100 acres in size: Its still a pen, you had to know it was a pen, and anybody who shoots animals in a pen is a coward. Keep spinning it, LIAR, but the damage is done: The bear is dead, and so is your crappy career. 'This is my town!' And you are the town idiot. Hope you get to serenade the inmates in prison. Hope the thrill of the kill is better than the thrill of getting poked in the sphincter every night.

What the hell is wrong with you people?! Do you not understand the way the legal system works? He has been accused, not confirmed of doing these acts! How dare all of you idiots take a freakin story from the media & try to accept it as fact. Do you believe everything you read? Did you ever think maybe somebody got their facts wrong and, in fact, he did nothing wrong? Then what will you stupid people do once you've overreacted like this and damaged a man's reputation? Holy crap!

The bear wasn't killed in a pen, it was killed in a several acre lot. However the fact remains that the bear was a tame one and probably had no fear of humans. Therefore it was extremely vulnerable to someone hunting it. To me this is the most pertinent fact. The bear was tame.

What kind of hunter goes after a tame animal? What's the sport in that? I would think that a real hunter would want a wild animal...something to pit his wits against so that he could feel a real sense of accomplishment in bagging it.

How much accomplishment can you get from bagging a tame animal who would probably walk right up to you if you stood on the ground?

I agree with Tony, he has not even been convicted yet! Stop saying such nasty things when we don't even know his side of the story yet!

Come on lay off em. I am sure that everybody has made a mistake. He is just trying to fit into a culture that inaccurately praises hunters for killing big, scary animals. Don't get me wrong, I love to hunt fair chase animals too. But, 'ethical' hunting has gone to hell in a handbasket. I mean most of us use tactics (scents, baits, rangefinders...) that give us an unfair advantage over our querry. And which one of you is going to lie and tell me that if you had a monster buck eating out of your back yard everynight you wouldn't shoot it. Maybe you would set up just outside the fence. That would make everything better...right? The ethics for hunting should be personal. If he can feel good paying that much to kill a tame bear, go for it. I can't, but it is definitely not my place to judge him for it.

I was shocked when I read this in the Louisville, KY paper. I have always liked Montgomery Gentry and their music. Well, I still like Eddie Montgomery--he carries the pair anyway with his great vocals. Unfortunately what T. Gentry did will probably have a negative impact on them as a group now. What a total coward he is! I think bow & arrow hunting should be outlawed anyway. But to kill a confined bear this way??? I wish someone would shoot an arrow in Gentry's butt. Big coward.

If Gentry were a true environmentalist and avid hunter, why did he not know what was legal or illegal? Sounds like one of these cowboy wannabes here in Nashville has owned his last bear. What a dumbass.

This is really sickening! I used to be a huge fan, but there's no way I can ever buy another CD. why would he do something like this??? I'm not against ethical hunting. And how can he think that tagging a tame bear as wild wasn't illegal???? I mean, come on! How stupid does he think we all are!? Besides, ignorance of the law is no excuse, especially pretend ignorance.

I think everyone is making Way to big of a deal out of Troy killing this Bear that he bought with his own money. 'Sportsmen' buy buffalo and shoot them in enclosement ALL the time without those animals not having anymore of a 'sporting'
chance as this bear, but that seams to be alright, nobody is standing in line to smash these 'hunters' in the head nor trying to end thier careers weather they be
Bankers, Welders,or musicians. further more if you eat a hamburger or a chicken
sandwich at your local MacDonalds your just as guilty of KILLING an animal for
your own wellbeing, weather that is for food, sport, trophy, decortive skins as this guy. I think all you hippocritical people that happen to be SICK JELLIOUS of this
good mans success should get off your high horses and find someone else to slam against your self rightous wall.Besides this thing happened two years ago, whatever happened to good ol'fashioned CHRISTIAN forgiveness? Probably down the flusher with
most of the rest of Americas good since.
