It's good to hear that Willie is supporting the Chicks, but it's a little too late. Check out www.liberalcountryfan.com for more coverage on the convergence of country music and politics.

The Dixie Chicks can say whatever they want to. And I can buy or not buy any performer's album I want to. And if the 'chicks' want to alienate a large number of their potential album buyers, well, then this is where we're at. By the way, it's not censorship. No one prevented Natalie from saying what she said.

The problem is not consumers' right to purchase a CD or not. Willie's pointing out that the Chicks were singled out by the media and country fans. They have also been virtually banned from radio.

Radio stations are businesses, and if they don't please their 'customers', they lose business. That said, I listen to Q106 in Madison. They play the Chicks. (duh, it's Madison). I usually listen to them, because I'm too busy to be changing channels when they come on. But -- when it's time to buy a CD, or go to a concert, I choose based on what I want to see. I don't go to DNC events, I don't buy Chicks CD's. They have chosen to link themselves to a particular political viewpoint, which is dumb for a musical group, unless they want to limit their fans to those who believe as they do. What party does Garth Brooks belong to? Don't know, don't care. He hasn't worn it on his sleeve, as far as I know. Peace, outta here....

Many country musicians ARE linked to a particular political viewpoint--Republican. Just because I'm a Democrat does not mean that I call up the radio station and ask that station to stop playing Toby Keith, for example. The problem is that Republican country music fans seem incapable of a similar response.

countrygirl, do you buy any Toby Keith CD's? We're talking about business here, not free speech. Go to Google and enter CCU in the search box. I've never called a radio station to request they not play Chicks. I have emailed my satellite radio provider, though. I pay for that.

No, I would never buy a Toby Keith CD. And, I understand that you yourself have never called a local radio station to request no Chicks. However, many people where I live have, and the Chicks aren't played--period. It's the radical conservative music listeners who post crazy, nonsensical comments on sites such as CMT that truly bother me--and to whom I would never even post a comment as a response. In fact, this site is the only site I've posted to--ever. I still maintain that country radio and listeners have been unfair to the Chicks. Rock radio seems to have room for nonpolitical, conservative, and liberal artists.

countrygirl, this will be my last post on this thread. Try to enjoy things besides politics. It's a rich persons game, anyway. Buy and listen to the music you like, and ignore all the fighting. That would be my advice (I know, you never asked for any). But, us grandpas always like to put our 2 cents in. Have a good one, Bill
