In a case that screams “made for television comedy movie of the week,” rapper Foxy Brown’s trial start date for assault was postponed until August 28th by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson.
The performer (whose real name is Inga Marchand and is 26) is charged with the assault of two employees at a local nail salon. The scuffle was believed to be the result of a disagreement about the price of Ms. Brown’s manicure.
In addition to delaying the trial, Judge Jackson also extended the order of protection the nail workers had filed against Foxy Brown – who is now on her third lawyer since the case began in the summer of 2004.
The rap diva is facing a misdemeanor assault charge for the incident where she allegedly kicked one of the salon’s employees and hit another in the face in the argument about the manicure’s price.
Ms. Brown was expected to enter a plea last December, but the plea was thrown out when the judge was not happy with the rapper’s statement. It is believed there was a problem with the wording of the statement and that Ms. Brown didn’t state her guilt in the assault plainly.
