Pearl Jam plans donation for Surfrider Foundation

Rockers Pearl Jam have announced plans to donate $2 from each ticket sold at its Los Angeles concert to the Surfrider Foundation – which is trying to preserve the Trestles Beach in San Clemente. The foundation expects to raise about $30,000 from the ticket sale donation.Eddie Vedder, the Seattle band’s lead singer, has been a longtime surfer and lived in the San Diego area. The singer has been a long-time supporter of the foundation, and the band is known for its spirit of supporting causes and giving to charities.The foundation has stated it fears the damage to the environment that will be the result of a proposed 16-mile extension of Highway 241, but community leaders have stated the extension is a need to continue growth in the area and ease traffic congestion.
