Eminem recently launched a website to help raise money for the family of slain rapper Proof – who was killed on April 11th, 2006, outside a club in Detroit.
Proof (real name DeShaun Dupree Holton) was a member of the rap group D12, and a longtime friend of Eminem. Along with his work in D12, Proof appeared with Eminem in 8 Mile – the film that was loosely based on Eminem’s life story.
After allegedly fatally shooting Keith Bender Jr., Proof was shot in the head on April 11th during a fight at the CCC Club on 8 Mile Road in Detroit. The gunfight is believed to have been the result of an argument over a game of pool, and Proof was allegedly shot by the bouncer Mario Etheridge - who is also Bender's cousin.
Eminem and his label Shady Records will use the website to sell T-shirts, posters and other merchandise geared toward the former D12 member. The proceeds raised from the sales will go into the Big Proof Forever Foundation – which is designed to benefit Proof’s family members and children.
