New trouble for Rolling Stones tour as Ronnie Wood goes to rehab
Jun 14, 2006, 14:11 GMT
London - The Rolling Stones' European tour appeared to be under renewed threat Wednesday as guitarist Ronnie Wood was admitted to a rehabilitation clinic in London to undergo treatment for alcohol abuse.
The 59-year-old rock star hoped to be 'returning home' in a couple of weeks, his spokesman said.
The Sun newspaper reported that Wood, who celebrated his 59th birthday on June 1, had been 'overdoing it' lately as far as partying and alcohol consumption were concerned.
The Stones plan to restart the European leg of their Bigger Bang tour in Milan on July 11.
The tour dates have already been delayed due to band member Keith Richards' recovery from brain surgery after falling out of a coconut tree while on holiday in Fiji.
'He needs some rest but he will definitely be fit for the first night of the European tour,' said Wood's spokesman.
