Cultural icon, entrepreneur, philanthropist and President & CEO of Def Jam Recordings, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, will make history when, for the first time, he performs his classic debut album Reasonable Doubt in it’s entirety on Sunday, June 25th. Tickets for the one night only event will go on sale Friday, June 9, 2006, promptly at 9:00 am (est) exclusively through Ticketmaster.
Reasonable Doubt’s storied history began as a bootlegged cassette tape, circulating among New York’s hip-hop community. While the buzz on the young rapper from Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects grew, the man who would go on to be crowned “The Greatest MC of All Time” in a recent MTV News survey still struggled to land a record deal. As a result, Roc-A-Fella Records was born, and Reasonable Doubt was released on June 25, 1996.
Ten summers later, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter has come to personify the new “American Dream” for millions the world over. Named President and CEO of Def Jam Recordings, in 2005, he is the founder and chairman of Rocawear, co-owner of the NJ Nets, and co-owner of skin care and beauty line Carol’s Daughter.
Jay-Z became the first non-athlete to enter into a major footwear co-venture with his S. Carter line for Reebok and in addition, continues his philanthropic work through his Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. Over his career, the multiple award winner has sold over 40 million albums and sold out arenas the world over.
