Country singer Mindy McCready’s trouble with her former boyfriend William McKnight continues as the singer has now reportedly filed a lawsuit against McKnight for approximately $3 million.
In the suit (which was filed in May), the singer claims that McKnight beat her in 2005 which resulted in damaging her musical career due to her not being able to perform in concert or other music related duties. McKnight was arrested and charged with attempted murder in May of 2005 when he allegedly beat McCready in her home.
McCready, who has a son by McKnight, found success in country music with the 1996 release of her debut album “Ten Thousand Angels” which reached certified gold thanks to the success of its two singles “Guys Do It All The Time” and “Ten Thousand Angels.”
Since 2004, the singer has faced legal problems of her own. She was arrested in August 2004 after using a fake prescription to try and purchase OxyContin. The singer plead guilty to that charge and received a $4,000 fine and three year probation sentence.
In May 2005, McCready was arrested in Nashville for several traffic violations – including speeding, driving without license, and driving under the influence. The alleged McKnight attack took place two days later.
