Dixie Chicks staying at the top for a second week

The Dixie Chicks continued to flex their wings at the top of the Billboard 200 as their long awaited return “Taking the Long Way” remained the at the number one position of the top country albums charts for a second week.

Although the Chicks were thought to have lost many of their fans and support following the now infamous comments from singer Natalie Maines in 2003, record sales have proven the group still has a strong base willing shell out their hard earned money for some of the Chick’s trademark mixture of country and rock music.Even though the Chicks held on to the top spot, they faced some tough competition from the runaway hit that Walt Disney has on its hands in the soundtrack to the studio’s "High School Musical."The album held on to the number two position on the sales charts and even new releases from super groups, like Red Hot Chili "Stadium Arcadium" (Warner Bros.), and Rascal Flatts' "Me and My Gang" couldn’t close Disney’s show.The "American Idol Season 5: Encores" compilation from RCA came in below the boys of Rascal Flatts and features songs from the hit show’s finalist – including winner Taylor Hicks' cover of "Takin' It to the Streets" and runner-up/new RCA label artist Katharine McPhee’s cover of "Think."
