Tokyo - Pop star Michael Jackson picked up an award from MTV Japan Saturday in his first public appearance since he was acquitted of child sexual abuse charges last year, Japanese media reported.
The 47-year-old received the Legend Award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2006 ceremony in Tokyo. Arriving in a black limousine, Jackson waved and thanked his fans, many of whom had waited for hours in the rain.
After Japan Jackson was scheduled to travel to Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The star has been living in Bahrain since his acquittal.
