Finland greets Eurovision winners Lordi

EPA/KIRSTI TALSIThe heavy-metal rockers led the crowd Friday night in a rendition of their winning song, Hard Rock Hallelujah!, setting a new record for mass-karaoke singing. Police said the square had to be closed off because of the number of people attending the concert. The band's lead singer, Tomi Putansuu, greeted the president wearing his devil's mask. Some 250,000 of Finland's 4.5 million-strong population have signed a petition protesting the publication in a tabloid of pictures of Lordi without their masks. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
