Sufjan Stevens wins first prize

Sufjan Stevens is the first-ever recipient of the New Pantheon Music Prize.
The indie artist, who had a critical hit last year with his album Illinois, will receive $5,000 and a trophy.
Among the voters who nominated Stevens, Elton John and John Legend who chose the singer-songwriter over such other talented nominees as Fiona Apple, Death Cab for Cutie, Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon and M.I.A.
