Record company bosses have decided to erase any evidence of John Lennon, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney smoking from the compilation LP 'Capitol Albums Volume 2', which is to set to be re-released on April 3.
Drummer Ringo Starr had two fingers chopped off in the picture to remove a cigarette from his hand.
This is not the first time the fab four have had their picture altered due to cigerettes. In 2003, a few poster companies in the U.S. airbrushed the classic Beatles Abbey Road album cover to remove a cigarette from Paul McCartney’s hand without permission.
The Beatles were all smokers at one time. George Harrison died of cancer in 2001, predominantly the result of years of smoking.
