“Dirrty” singer Christina Aguilera is releasing a new album this June with the help of DJ Premier of Gang Starr. The album, Back to Basics, is inspired by the soul, jazz and blues music of the ‘20s, ‘30s and ‘40s.
“It was kind of a shock because I was like, 'How does she know about me?'” DJ Premier told Billboard.com “I'm one of those guys that really doesn't expect pop artists to really be up on me.”
Ex- 4 Non Blondes singer and current hot industry collaborator Linda Perry also assisted Aguilera on such tracks as “Candy Man” and “Save Myself From Me,” the latter of which is dedicated to Aguilera’s new husband.
Back To Basics will be released on RCA records.
