Pearl Jam hits number three

It’s been more than three years since their last new material was released but Pearl Jam has returned with their highest-ever modern rock debut. The new single “World Wide Suicide” landed at No. 3 on Billboard’s Radio Monitor modern rock chart and was ranked No. 1 on the format's audience chart. “World Wide Suicide” is the group’s 31st modern rock chart appearance, which is second all-time at the format to U2’s 33. The single is only the fifth song to debut within the top 3 in the chart’s 17-year history and the highest since Linkin Park’s “Somewhere I Belong” debuted at No. 2 in March 2003.Pearl Jam’s new self-titled album, their first for J records, is due out May 2 and will be followed by a North American tour which kicks off in Toronto May 9.
