Elvis Presley festival to mix it up
By Trent McMartin Mar 7, 2006, 17:17 GMT
Elvis Presley's hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi will be flooded with fans of the king this summer as the eighth Elvis Presley Festival kicks off this June. The festival will feature a musical mix of gospel, hard rockers and tribute artists, organizers said.
The Main Stage will feature rockabilly trio The Dempseys, country singer Jeff Bates, New Orleans rock group Cowboy Mouth, country artists Chris Cagle and Chely Wright and hard-rockers Saliva whose lead singer Josey Scott is best known for singing the Spider-Man hit "Hero" with Nickelback's Chad Kroeger.
At the Fairpark Stage, tribute artists Donny Edwards, Jamie Aaron Kelley and Brandon Bennett are set to perform as well as Kay Bain and The Mornin' Show Band, Sonny Burgess and The Pacers and The Dempseys again.
Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo in 1935 but moved to Memphis, Tenn., in 1948, and lived there up until his death in August of 1977.

Trent McMartin didn't quite get the story on Tupelo correct. Jamie Aaron Kelley, star of Elvis Story, is a special guest Entertainer for the event.
