Jay-Z to conqueor Asia
By Trent McMartin Mar 7, 2006, 17:15 GMT
It's not enough for rapper Jay-Z to sell millions of albums, start a successful hip hop label and clothing line and become president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings, but now "Jigga" has recently inked a lease deal to open up more locations of his high end sports lounge, the 40/40 Club, in Shanghai, Tokyo and Hong Kong. The clubs are all scheduled to open by late 2007.
The 40/40 Club, owned by Jay-Z, Miami businessman Desiree Gonzalez and Baseline Studios founder Juan Perez, first opened in New York City on June, 20, 2003 and expanded to Atlantic City in 2005. Along with Shanghai, Tokyo and Hong Kong, future clubs are set to open in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Singapore.
In other news, it's rumoured that Jay-Z will end his short-lived retirement from the recording studio and release some new material some time in the future. Last month, artist-producer Pharell mentioned Jay-Z as a possible artist he might collaborate with.
