Rolling Stones to play at Olympic Stadium in Athens on June 29

Athens - Britain's veteran rock band the Rolling Stones are scheduled to perform in Athens on June 29, nearly four decades after first being pulled from the stage by the military junta then ruling Greece.
The Rolling Stones, currently sweeping their way across the USA for sold-out shows underling the band's staying power, confirmed a 'Bigger Bang European Tour' for next summer with a night in Athens.
The British act led by front-man Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, made an unsuccessful attempt to play its first-ever Greek show back in 1967, just ahead of the country's looming military dictatorship.
Police officers, following the political establishment's line of intolerance toward the notorious visiting rockers, ambushed the stage and stopped the show just four songs into the band's set.
The British band's Greek show is expected to be held at the Olympic Stadium, where the Rolling Stones last performed as part of their 'Bridges to Babylon' tour in the late 1990s.
The Athens concert was initially scheduled to be held in Athens on June 29 but organisers decided on an earlier date. Ticket prices will range from 78 to 280 euros.
