We have posted samples of the upcoming Nirvana compilation “Sliver: The Best of the Box”. Nineteen of the 22 tracks were previously featured on last year’s boxset “With the Lights Out” while the three others, a 1985 demo “Spank Thru”, a 1990 studio demo “Sappy”, and a pre-Nevermind recording rehearsal recording of “Come as You Are” are all unreleased tracks.
For the first time Cobain’s daughter Francis Bean Cobain was involved in the assembly of a Nirvana compilation selecting the title and the cover art. “Courtney and I involve Frances in Nirvana/Kurt decisions whenever we can,” Peter Asher, manager of both Cobain's widow Courtney Love and the Cobain estate, told Rolling Stone magazine last month. “She’s very perceptive and has cool ideas.”
“Sliver: The Best of the Box” is set for release November 1 and is the fifth posthumous release from Nirvana since their demise in 1994.
