It is ashame that the Cream reunion concert in New York wasn't advertised more widely. I would have made the pigramige from where ever I was at any cost. After waiting 37 years and knowing that it would happen someday, I am really bummed, but at least they left us with an excellent video to cherrish.
Thanks
will Cream reunite and play in Boston in aug 2006?
One cant help but pay respect to 3 guys now in their mid-to-late 60's who gave their physical All. Producing a nice event of nostalgia, but musically disappointing.
Bruce once the incarnation of a bass-genius, barely standing upright after an organ transplant reduced to an average player, with remnants of acceptable singing & harmonica.
Baker close to 70, once the driving force, now neurologically retarded, plagued by arthritis, barely able to follow, lost it more than once in evry title.
And Clapton like a slow-pitched turntable to meet the smallest common denominator.
They played a list of Bruce-compositions, surrounded by some blues-standards. And they did, like any above average blues-band would have done.
But CREAM could not be re-united. Because CREAM wasnt just Clapton + Bruce + Baker (hear anyone of them play with another band and you know) CREAM was a multiple of that: a phenomenen of 3 musicians at their peak, with almost telepathic understanding of a common goal, on their mission with an unstoppable fierceness, unboundly innovative.
Stangly they DID accomplish something unexpected with these 'Reunion' performances: by singling themselves out after each song, they once-and-for-all-time UNDID the legend: this behaviour confirmed we were not looking nor listening to anything even close to CREAM.
No need to remember where you were that day in '05 or '06 when they played at 'Royal Albert' or 'Madison Square'
Because it wasnt CREAM.
The previous comments by 3cecece, for my mind, miss the whole point. If like me you are disapointed by such negativity and feel like reading something that reflects the beauty of Eric, Bruce and Ginger reuniting, go to the following site for a really positive review

I don't know exactly where you were when Cream played at the Garden. But I was there on the second night. Granted I didn't have the best seats but considering that at the time I was 17 and had just spent every penny I had for a plane ticket from Nashville to New York and a two night stay at an actually not half bad hotel in Queens I think I can be excused for not having front row tickets. The show was quite simply incredible I remember being almost euphoric before during and after the show. It was an incredible experience and I think it's somewhat sad that somebody that most likely wasn't even there had to bash it especially considering he most likely doesn't have 1% of the talent that any three of the bandmembers could have mustered up even on their worst night.
