Heavy metal group Metallica were in the studio this past week to record their voices for an upcoming episode of TV's longest running primetime comedy The Simpsons. The metal masters will be seen guest starring with Homer Simpson and the rest of Springfield's wacky residents in May of next year.
Metallica are just the latest musical act to guest appear on the cartoon comedy show, which has seen such notable appearances over the years from Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, Lenny Kravitz, Tom Petty, The Who, U2, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Cypress Hill, Smashing Pumpkins, 50 Cent, The Ramones, Paul McCartney, Sting and Aerosmith.
Metallica is currently getting ready to begin work on the follow-up to 2003's St. Anger and are expected to start recording sometime before the end of the year.
