Stones donate $1million to victims of Hurricane Katrina

The Rolling Stones are donating $1million to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.Despite Mick Jagger's comical reputation as a cheapskate, the band have generously given the huge cash sum to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.The rockers are also encouraging fans to donate money at each of their concerts on their current 'A Bigger Bang' tour.The Stones are the latest in a long line of music stars who are doing everything they can to help the relief effort in America's Gulf States.Michael Jackson is recording a fundraising song, Jay-Z and Diddy have both donated $1million, and Alicia Keys and Green Day are among stars to perform at a benefit concert.Hollywood actors are also helping out, with Oscar-winners Julia Roberts and Jamie Foxx working in shelters for the victims.Meanwhile, qualified pilot John Travolta flew out to the affected areas with supplies and vaccines, while Sean Penn heroically rescued stranded victims with his own boat.Copyright 2005 BANG Media International
