Green Day looks set to triumph at this year's MTV Video Music Awards with a staggering eight nominations.
The rock band - who have enjoyed phenomenal success with their latest album 'American Idiot' - have received the majority of award nods for their 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' video, while their 'American Idiot' promo is up for Best Art Direction.
Frontman Billie Jo Armstrong, who is hoping to win honours for Video of the Year, Best Group Video and Viewers' Choice, admits he is overwhelmed by the amount of nominations.
He said: "This whole thing has just been surreal. It's an amazing feeling when you get recognised for one thing, but when you get nominated eight times over, it goes to a whole new level."
In the prestigious Video of the Year category, Green Day - who will perform at the Miami ceremony, hosted by P Diddy, on August 28 - face stiff competition from Coldplay, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West and Gwen Stefani.
Gwen's 'Hollaback Girl' video, which features her dressed as a sexy cheerleader, is also nominated for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Best Choreography.
She is also up for Best Art Direction and Best Editing for her 'What You Waiting For?' promo, which sees her dress up as Alice in Wonderland.
Hip-hop queen Missy Elliott has also received an impressive six nominations for her 'Lose Control' video, including Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Dance Video.
