Mel C is terrified her music career will suffer because of her "evil" depression.
The former Spice Girl has opened her heart in a candid interview about battling the devastating illness.
She said: "I'm terrified of it. It was quite out of character for me, it was scary. It's such an evil illness. You think you're never going to feel well again, the rest of your life is going to be miserable."
But the star hopes she has finally found the road to happiness after a series of alternative treatments.
She added: "I had lots of counselling and tried all different types of alternative therapies. I still have acupuncture now, and I know what I have to do to stay well, eating properly, getting some exercise, not drinking too much. It sounds boring but it's more than worth it."
Mel C, formerly known as Sporty Spice, also admitted she is obsessed with exercise.
Mel said in an interview with Britain's Star magazine: "I love to run, especially outside. I go to the gym a couple of times a week, and I do yoga when I can. I probably exercise four or five times a week."
