Eminem to retire from solo career

Los Angeles - Controversial rapper Eminem is planning to retire as a solo artist to concentrate on producing, the Detroit Free Press reported Friday, a day after a bus crash injured 11 members of the superstar's touring entourage.
The report in Eminem's home town newspaper said that a September 17 show in Ireland likely would be his last as a solo artist before he segues into a career as a musical producer promoting younger stars like 50 Cent, G-Unit and Lil Jon signed to his record label.
Neither they or Eminem were on the bus that crashed Wednesday night injuring 11 tour members, but the show scheduled for Thursday in Denver took place nonetheless.
The report said that Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, was abandoning his solo career because he has become disenchanted with the trappings of celebrity and was committed to quitting while still on top.
Under this plan his current album "Encore" will be his last. The report quoted his manager, Paul Rosenberg, as saying that though no official decision had been made about Eminem's future his current multi-platinum album was "certainly the cap on this part of his career".
