David Gilmour's "Remember That Night– Live at the Royal Albert Hall" is the Columbia released double DVD Set directed by David Mallet.

Lasting more than 5 hours, "Remember That Night - Live At The Royal Albert Hall" includes Gilmour's rave-reviewed London concert -- featuring special guest appearances from David Bowie, Robert Wyatt, David Crosby and Graham Nash -- as well as 2 hours and 40 minutes of extras, notably a revelatory fly-on-the-wall documentary following Gilmour and his band on tour. A 20-page booklet accompanies the DVD.
The on the road documentary features Gilmour in rehearsals at Bray Studios.
During the documentary footage, David Gilmour is rehearsing with his band in one of the rehearsal rooms and Roger Waters is doing the same, in another rehearsal room… both bands will be touring in 2006 at different times, and they share a keyboard player, Jon Carin.
“We are in Bray Studios and there are three rooms here, Roger’s in one of them and we’re in the other…by pure coincidence, strange though it may seem and hard as that may be to believe,” mused Gilmour to documentarian chronicler Gavin Elder.
Later, at a Manchester Concert, inside the band room Elder speaks to Graham Nash, who was born in Salford, and performed with David Crosby at all the UK Gilmour dates.
He comments to Elder about Manchester: “Man, walking around, there’s so many memories, holy shit! I just walked past the building where I saw Bill Haley in 1958, changed my life.”
At the Royal Albert Hall, prior to the concert, David Gilmour tells Elder:

Now music fans, who may have missed Gilmour's 2006 tour, get a chance to share in that magic with the release of "Remember That Night - Live At The Royal Albert Hall," a double DVD commemorating Gilmour's highly acclaimed SRO tour.
David Gilmour tells Elder, “Steve DiStanislao is a brilliant drummer who I nicked from Crosby & Nash. Gilmour's two-and-a-half-hour concert features band members Richard Wright of Pink Floyd, Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, new band member Steve DiStanislao on drums, plus Pink Floyd regulars Dick Parry, Guy Pratt and Jon Carin.
“Actually I feel like I won the lottery by playing with this band, it’s an unbelievable experience, ” shared DiStanislao to Elder.
Rick Wright was psyched to be back at Royal Albert Hall: “It brings back a lot of memories. I actually played ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’ on the Royal Albert Hall organ and I was thinking today, can I try and get back on the Albert Hall organ?”
“I’m just getting so much pleasure out of this tour, I really am. It’s revitalized my whole love of going on stage,” he shared with Elder.
David Gilmour, the legendary guitarist and voice of Pink Floyd, will premiere an 85-minute theatrical version of "Remember That Night – Live at the Royal Albert Hall," to 111 movie theatres on Saturday, September 15 at 3 p.m. Eastern/ Noon Pacific.
This exclusive, one-time event will also include a one song live performance by David Gilmour prior to the concert and end with a special question and answer session – both live via satellite from London.
David Gilmour spoke with Elder of his feelings about playing at the Royal Albert Hall:
“Pink Floyd played here in 1968. We had a choir sing on ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’ which culminated in us setting of two Waterloo canon on stage and we got banned for life; although like prison sentences, life did not mean life”
Disc 1 of "Remember That Night" includes Gilmour's critically-acclaimed concert featuring songs from his #1 UK chart-topping album "On An Island" as well as Pink Floyd classics such as "High Hopes," "Shine on You Crazy Diamond," "Comfortably Numb" and the first filmed performance (since Pink Floyd's "Live at Pompeii") of the epic 20 minute tour de force, "Echoes."
The concert's state-of-the-art production comes courtesy of lighting genius Marc Brickman. The show was filmed by David Mallet, one of the world's leading music directors. Disc 2 of "Remember That Night" Remember That Night disc 2 is packed with rarities and previously unreleased material including "Breaking Bread, Drinking Wine," a 46-minute road movie filmed during the 2006 tour.
Allowing fans a unique "seat on the tour bus," "Breaking Bread, Drinking Wine" gives viewers a rare glimpse of David Gilmour, his personal remembrances of Syd Barrett, flashfloods, a collapsing stage, a Russian wine-glass player, and problems with German trains.
On “Breaking Bread”, David Gilmour and David Crosby are on a tour bus having guitar chat with Elder: “The guitars that smell old, you know when they’ve got that, when you put your nose up to the sound hole and there’s that smell and they’ve got this old wooden smell to them. there’s something about them. I’ve got a 1947 Martin D18 and it’s just lovely, that’s about my favorite wood… just beautiful.”
During the trek to the Austria concert, David Gilmour spoke about Syd Barrett to Elder a few days after Barrett had died: “I’m going to do a song, if I’m brave enough, called ‘Dark Globe’ which is from Syd Barrett’s first solo album The Madcap Laughs, which I worked on at the time. Tonight is my first performance since Syd died, just a little tribute.”
“It’s a song that I’ve never sung in my life or rehearsed in my life and I don’t intend to... I thought I’d do my first rehearsal tonight!”
Other DVD extras include bonus tracks from the Royal Albert Hall, Gilmour's first-ever performance of the Syd Barrett classic "Dark Globe," "Astronomy Domine" Live From Abbey Road, and the AOL sessions recorded while on tour in LA. Five songs from the BBC Mermaid Theatre concert are also on Disc 2, along with a five-minute documentary shot on tour in LA. The DVD also includes a photo gallery featuring the tour crew, shot by tour photographer Polly Samson.
"Remember That Night - Live At The Royal Albert Hall" comes with a 20-page booklet featuring more than 80 photos selected from studio recording, touring, and time off.
The deluxe DVD is an exclusive virtual backstage pass to gain insight and enjoy the musical highlights from David Gilmour's 2006 tour, including the making of his #1 UK chart-topping album, "On An Island," released in March 2006.
Tours in Europe, the US and the UK followed the release of the album, with the concerts held in theatres chosen by Gilmour, preferring the intimacy of such venues after a lifetime of stadium rock.

Just returned from viewing the concert in Boise. Outstanding. Well received. Feel like I am privy to a historical event. Hope that the producers of this concert DVD will do the same for the Led Zeppelin reunion in October. Thanks....I'm still floating to the music.
