The Bourne Supremacy Reviewed

The Bourne Supremacy, directed by Paul Greengrass, is a follow on from the original "The Bourne Identity" both written by author Robert Ludlum. For this one you don't really need to have seen the first film to understand what's happening now, for those that have seen "TBI" the sequel flows smoothly from the first.

With everything that happens it could become confusing with all the ties each individual person has to one another, but it doesn't. And though it's part 'spy' as well as action/thriller, it could have had the little gadgets that can come with a film like this but it doesn't, which gives it a sense of realism - who needs a thousand dollar gizmo to blow up a house when a bit of gas and a rolled up magazine in a toaster will do? The film is fast paced and it barely stops for a breather, it leaves no space to become bored with characters talking just to pass the time.

The fight scenes were neat; gritty and realistic, as was the car chase through Moscow. The variety of locations was also nice, the scenes weren't all set in one place so there was usually some city different to look at; from India to Russia. One part, which was slightly frustraing was how, after finding the fingerprint match near the beginnning of the film, they don't question the authenticity of it. Would a guy that was trained as well as he has, be stupid enough to leave piece of himself at the scene of the crime?

There are familiar faces from the first film too, some that last longer than others, though Julias Stiles' character Nicky could have been used more. It was cool seeing Karl Urban in the film too, as the bad guy Russian, Kirill. Matt Damon, as in "TBI", was great as the main man Jason Bourne, I hope the third Bourne book is made into a film so we get to see more.

All in all "The Bourne Supremacy" is definitely a film to see when next browsing the cinema listings.
