Did we see the same movie? It was horrible! I have never exited a theater so fast! I know that they will change the movie and not match the books, but could we have at least kept the PLOT? It rates right up there with Rocky and Bullwinkle. I was very, very, very disappointed!

I can't just let this go. The books are wonderful and funny. The movie was slapstick and stupid. The best part was the Chicken Little preview. I could not believe how bad bad bad bad this movie was. A love story??? Hello, did the director read the book,or did he just slap some stuff on film? And the we don't find out about the dolphins until the FOURTH book of the trilogy. Ugh!!!! Please don't let them loose with a sequel!!!!!

Before griping that the book wasn't like the movie, keep in mind that of all of the different versions of Hitchhiker's (radio play, TV series, movie, books, comic book, stage show, computer game), the only two that really ended up like each other were the radio play and the radio play transcript.

hey Marya, next time take your guide dog with you as this was one of the funniest times I have had in the movies recently. And yes the books are slapstick and silly too, that is part of their charm. Oh well it takes all sorts.

Marya, you might want to go re-read the books. Adams spends several pages hinting around at the love story that the movie actually realizes. I agree with this review. It's a delightful tribute to Adams and his work. You might consider listening to the radio series and watching the TV series before going on about the 'plot' of the books. The whole point was there wasn't really a plot. The movie lost the plot as perfectly as the other media Adams created around HHGG did. It was delightful.

I was just searching the web for movie reviews of Hitchhiker - making sure that everyone else thought it sucked as much as I did. I am completely with Marya. To call it by the name of one of the most clever and original books out there is insulting to all of the story's real fans.

'To call it by the name of one of the most clever and original books out there is insulting to all of the story's real fans.' - What review were you reading ? Clever than what ? I might not think that this was the greatest movie ever made but at least I read the damn review and if I want to poke fun at it I will, but I will not make up things.... oh what's my point, see, almost lost me there. Yeah HHG2TG is fun, and as the review stated it's not based on the book (please someone read this to MARYA cause she can't read and her guide dog is busy , thanks to Hitchhikers R Us for that bit of info). So what seems to be your problems dear Hitch fans or did they cancel the latest Baywatch episode so you had nothing else left to do ?

ok i read the books and i sw the movie. I washoping the two to match but i guess thsi wasnt the case. I hope they fix it the way they did with dune. and make like a mini series ON the book. I thought the humma kavula part was funny, the dolphins were ok, but what they did not do was follow adams' dialouges. sure they hinted little bits of his written woprk but they did one very stupid thing . . . they took out the fun out of it.
