Rather than state 'this review is useless', why not provide a counter argument?

Don't know who Anne Brodie is but looks like she was paid to
write a good review. Just saw this picture tonight and sure
the chases were well done and the film had its moments. But,
hey, this was no four and half stars. Looks like the studio
flak department has M&C in their pocket. Money is all it takes.

Anne makes us eager to see the movie. It has to be a wonder by her description.

It is a master work by Matt Damon
an absolute must see!

Ground breaking cinema photography
and all out demanding pace
of sheer excitement.

One of the best action movies
I've seen in quite a number of years.

An edgy and smart script

The performance by the cast
was on target
on time
and in tune
with revelancy of today's politiks.

Congratulations Matt Damon
you hit a grand slam
this summer!

Good Luck!

Dreadful film. In the second and third movies, the camera is moving around so much for the fight sequences that it's hard to appreciate the choreography. Same with the crash sequences. It's hard to watch because the camera seems to be shaking and the editing is so fast that it's hard to take in any one given frame. The plot sounds like it was concocted in a rush, was found to be useless, so rather than devising an intelligent plot, they try to fit a series of events within broken time frames so that events will appear to make some sort of sense.

A few pointless scenes.

a. Bourne goes to tell Marie's brother (who knew she had a brother? who cares?) that Marie has been killed. What was the point of this scene? (not to mention that the actor who plays the brother doesn't look particularly bothered about her passing).

b. Nicky Parsons walks into the middle of a black opp when she meets Bourne at Daniels' office. How could this ever happen? Wouldn't she have been informed to steer clear of the area?

c. At one point, Desh the 'asset' is on a bike and he sees Bourne in his rear view mirror.. and then, nothing!

d. Before Desh blows up the motorbike as Daniel's Mercedez is approaching, he drops a bag in front of another car, making us think that the bomb is in the bag and not the motorbike itself... so what was the point of the bag in the first place?

e. When Landy gives Bourne his real name and birthdate, it's a throwback to the second movie... apparently... so did this happen then or was it a new event?

f. Bourne manages to break into a CIA building to steal Noah's files from his safe. This isn't believable in the least. In broad daylight no less.

g. Since when does Bourne buy 'The Guardian' newspaper? Why would he do that? We've never seen him do that in any other film.

h. There is no way NO WAY that the Audi Bourne was driving could've flipped over and out of the parking lot. Retarded. No matter how fast it was going.

g. In an interview with Kramer at the beginning of the film, Landy informs him that Bourne went to visit the daughter of his first target. Kramer asks 'why would he do that?' and Landy answers, 'Because he's looking for something..'. Um... does this line of dialogue make sense to anybody? How clever to you have to be to figure that if an assassin goes to visit the daughter of his first target and you're asked why he would do that, wouldn't the obvious answer be, 'Maybe he wanted to apologize.', or 'Maybe he feels remorseful.' No, according to them the best these CIA geniuses could come up with is 'Maybe he's looking for something'. Retarded.

h. The scene in the restaurant between Landy and Noah is absolutely pointless. The only information we can derive from this scene is that Pam doesn't like Noah, and Noah doesn't like Pam. That Landy's the good guy and Noah's the bad guy. Um... I think we've all figured out that Noah's a bad guy. He's such a bad guy that it's not very believable.

There are some more scenes, but these were the ones that bother me the most. I've watched the film 3 times hoping to make some sense of it but in the final analysis the plot is just amazingly weak. The dialogue in the film is well below par to either of the first two films. You have great actors with nothing to act about. Great fight scenes that are tough to see, great car chases that move so quick you don't know who's coming from where or what direction anyone's going in.

On the positive side, the trick with the motorcycle was really cool.

2 1/2 stars
