Nobody hired Marko to do anything. He was jus a pissed off escaped con. There was no partnership between him and Osborn. This is a fairly big plot point; did you actually watch the movie?

He is right - Marco was not hired but rather agreed to join forces with Venom to take out Spidey. This show was too long and found myself yawning half way through and waiting anxiously for it to end. Painful.

I have to conur that the reviewer here never actually saw the movie. Harry Osborn did not have any contact with Marko until he comes to Spidey's aid near the end of the picture. It is the Eddie Brock/symbiotc suit combo that enlists the Sandman's cooperation. It seems to me that the majority of reviews I've seen for this movie have been rather facile, but this one takes the cake. I think the reviewers have decided that they can't stop the film from being a box office smash but they still want to get their petty jibes in regardless. I suppose they would be more effective if they bothered to watch the movie instead of just reading summaries from IMDB.

Add this post to the 'Goblin didn't enlist Sandman for anything' pile. Just because the sappy twenty minute ending makes your eyes glaze over doesn't let you off the hook on that one.

This is the most entertaining Spider-man movie of the trilogy...but, that's not saying much. I'm not sure what the appeal is of these movies, they are mediocre at best. Bordering on the campy (and boy does this one camp it up) it's just mindless fun, but certainly not the high watermark of superhero movies (that goes to Batman Begins, of course). This movie is 20 minutes too long and the special effects still look fake. Where the hell did $250 million dollars go? Certainly not on screen. Most of the Sandman sequences look like stolen stock footage from The Mummy movies. And then the multiple tear-jerk endings...you'll squirm like the last 15 minutes of Return of the King. I kept waiting for Spidey to have a pillow fight with Frodo and then sail off to the elven holy land. Bleh.

Anyway. The five minutes Venom is on screen was kinda cool, at least.

No you should see another reviewer now that takes the cake, This movie was a bit long, the major plot outline really didn't come into place till later even though there where bits and pieces in the begining. I do think that the chracters where developed pretty well though especially the villians. They all had either a past or present background with Spiderman/Peter Parker and they all had personalitys. But it was still a good movie.

Oh, come off it. The 'hired' comment came from the caption to the photo - not the review. This reviewer was spot on. This film was trying to do WAY too much, and consequently the script was a mess. Entertaining? Somewhat. Best of the Spidey movies? Not by a long shot.

look, like any great story, this eventually has to end. actors get old, bored,
and tired. yes they have been craming alot of plot into spiderman 2 and 3, but when else should they put it in? spidey 8,9 and 10? be real, there should only be 1 or 2 spidey movies left. and the movie makers are going to do everything they can to make sure the comic book fans all get a chance to see thier favorate charactors. the idea is to make money while poeple like us PAY to see these movies. regardless of if it was good or not. stop crying.

I have a problem with your first paragraph... specificly the part where you say spiderman is the most human character on the silver screen...

Uhhh can you say BATMAN! At least he isn't a mutant.

spider-man rocks, ok??? deal with it.May 6th, 2007 - 22:08:24

omg people GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont care what anyone else thinks cuz my friends and i saw spider-man 3 and it was FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! you all are just plain jealous cuz you will NEVER in a billion years even dream of making a movie that good!!!!!!! toby maguire and kirsten dunst and james franco and all those other ppl are absolutely PERFECT (yes and i mean perfect being 'without any flaw whatsoever') for the roles in that movie and they made spider-man the movie the whole world loves whether youre gonna admit to it or not. so, once again, GET OVER YOUR LITTLE EMO SELVES and go watch the movie again and enjoy it for the incredibly spectacular special effects and acting movie it is. but this time, dont come back and bore the world with your lame excuses about how it 'could've been better'. cuz it cant get any better than that. deal with it.

I just came for seeing ' Spidey ' and I must say it was completely entertaining , the acting was right on and I would recomended seeing it to everyone .
I do believe it's time for ALL critics to actually see the movie they are criticing . This fellow surely was asleep during this movie . I have personally stopped listening to them because they thumbs up to those that pay them the most and thumbs down to the rest .

I think it's interesting that the people who have commented about how great this film is can hardly type using coherent sentences, correct grammar and spelling.

Those that disliked the film seem to actually have some intelligence.

Guess which camp I fall into?

I do not understand how a critic can say a movie had too much and still hold their job. The first seasons of 24, Lost, the first seasons of the supernatural FBI show...and every good movie was a complicated puzzle with many characters. Let me tell you all in Hollywood what you are missing: We do not care about knowing the complete picture and story of every single character in every story. It waters a movie down quick when you get into too much character development, for example the recent miami vice which had no complaints only because of the naked ladies that came with the melodramatic development. Look at the old miami vice, I never saw it until recently and I found that it was pretty good, amazingily, for a ten? year old show.

Wake up Hollywood, we want more story and less Dr. Phil sequels.

Andrew James. I totally agree. What has happened to our kids? Weren't they taught proper spelling, puntuation etc...

While I agree with you on this point, I have to agree with these kids. This was an excellent movie. Not too long at all. The story lines all seem to come to fruition and the message I came away with was forgiveness. It was powerful and sitting next to my nine year old who is a big Spidey fan made me appreciate it even more. We will definitely see this again before it departs the theatre. I'm sure we'll get a lot of viewing enjoyment out of it on DVD as well.

And people, please stop ripping the reviewer. I fail to see where exactly they tie Harry Osborne to The Sand Man. You can rip his review but remeber this is why the site is called Monsters and Critics

I just watched itMay 9th, 2007 - 02:47:20

and like it. good movie. but critics are always have to be critics - to say something bad about something that is. if you are so brilliant, go and make a movie yourself. I'm sure noone would survive even the first five minutes of it. It will be as boring as your review.

I saw Spider man 3....It was ok. This is the movie the first one should have been. Gwen dies Norman dies then # 2 should have been venom and Peter hooking up with MJ Sand man would have fit right in. # 3 could have been Doc Ock and Harry becoming Hobbie. So he could be in #4 There they should introduce Lizard and Man Wolf and then Kill Harry. Then it will all be worth it.
