This was truly an awful review.
'Many of the shots are taken indoors in the most marginal of dim light. Realistic? To the core. But it gets old. The outdoor shots all appear to have been taken on cloudy days immediately before a rain. The costumes might just as well be random clothing collected from working class commuters in any town in Ireland. The sound track is nonexistent---essentially, there is no music.'
In one paragraph you managed to dismiss some of the best aspects of the film. The lighting reflected that available at the time ie. no electricity. The outdoor shots were intended to look the way you described them. Have you even been to Ireland? Until you have, don't comment. And as for music, well quite simply your wrong. You can buy the (not bad) soundtrack on amazon. To put it simply, your bitching. Correct me if i'm wrong, but reviews are supposed to be an accurate and impartial look at a film?
