My sisters had 'Pursuit of Happyness' on their 'To See' list, so when I visited DC and Arlington VA over Christmas, they dragged me along. All three of us found it to be a phenomenal film, with a phenomenal cast. I hadn't seen Will Smith in anything before, so didn't have a clue what to expect. What I liked most about it was the lack of what I call 'Hollywoodism'. This true story is an educational, thought-provoking, and mature analysis of how one can handle adversity. It shows that one can use the stones thrown at you as stepping stones to a better life. If one believes in one's self and in love, keeps their anger controlled--or at least in check--and stays positive and thankful to God despite everything, one can achieve, well, success and maybe even 'happyness'. I highly recommend this movie.
On New years eve, myself and my daughter (12 years) went out to do something fun together. I thought I will take her for Happy Feet. AT the end she said we will watch The Pursuit of Happiness. To be honest every penny spent is worth. it is educational, thought provoking and hit me hard in many ways and so do my daughter. She understood the movie in her level. Yet it made her silent for some time.I know she is thinking.
