Wake Up Colin...Nov 23rd, 2006 - 21:56:02

Well:

First, Emillio can, solidly, ACT!

Second, he can, solidly, DIRECT!

Third, he's lived in Hollywood his WHOLE LIFE!

He reminds me of Clint Eastwood, when he was that age.

Who is this worthless damn critic?

Although the review here was a little clunky, its heart is in the right place.
'Bobby' is a surprising film in many ways and its reflective multi-layered approach builds slowly and meaningfully to the inevitable climax of Bobby Kennedy's assassination. The performances are uniformly superior; I don't see what the reviewer here means when he suggests the actors are trying too hard. The parts written for them are more literate and nuanced than usual in today's movies and the results are rewarding, top to bottom. As Sixties history drifts away, what an effective means this film is of reminding us of an era where politicians actually talked about people helping people and the possibility of collective change if we tried hard enough.

I agree with the previous post; just listen to the prepared words of George Bush and compare them with those of the likes of RFK. How did we get ourselves into this cultural abyss? 'Bobby' should inspire those who didn't live out the Sixties to do some of the contemplation which is needed to finally move in the direction that Robert Kennedy envisioned. I saw a bumper sticker recently that sums up my feelings pretty well...'The problems of today cannont be fixed by the minds that created them'.
