The film is based on Dan Brown's best-selling novel of the same name
Ian McKellen and Alfred Molina have been cast in The Da Vinci Code.

Variety is reporting Molina will play Bishop Arigarosa and McKellen will play Sir Teabing, a grail hunter who is not all he seems.

This comes on top of the rumor that Christopher Eccelston has also been given a role, as Silas the albino monk who acts as Arigarosa's right hand.

The book starts with the murder of a Lourve curator and the clues he leaves behind, which send Robert Langdon on a journey that leads to a well-protected secret that could change Christianity forever.

Tom Hanks, Jean Reno and Audrey Tautou have already been cast with Ron Howard directing from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman.
