From Monsters and Critics.com Movies News The Sopranos star Michael Imperioli is set to make his feature directing debut with his script “The Hungry Ghosts.” Variety reports the ensemble drama is scheduled to start shooting May 19th with a projected budget under $1 million for the 24-day shoot. The film will star Imperioli’s “Sopranos” mates Steve Schirripa and Sharon Angela, Nick Sandow (“The Lovebirds”) and Aunjanue Ellis (“Freedomland”). Producing duties on the film are handled by Diane Crespo and Stefan Schaefer of Cicala Filmworks, Victoria Imperioli, and Tina Thor and Howard Axel of TMT Entertainment. The film’s plot follows divorcees Schirripa and Angela as they attempt to keep their troubled son off the streets; and ex-lovers Sandow and Ellis as they deal with a push-pull relationship. Imperioli co-wrote and executive produced Spike Lee’s “Summer of Sam.” He also wrote five episodes of “The Sopranos.” He is scheduled to return to the screen opposite Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz in director Peter Jackson’s upcoming “The Lovely Bones.” © Copyright 2007 by monstersandcritics.com.
